Nextone Certifies XConnect As Service-Ready Voip Peering Solution

Interoperability of Products and Services Optimizes NexTone Interconnection to XConnect Peering Federations throughout Europe, Asia, and Americas

FALL VON, BOSTON-October 30, 2007-NexTone®, a leader in session border controllers and scalable session management solutions for VoIP, multimedia, and IMS network interconnects, and XConnect Global Networks, Ltd., today announced that XConnect's VoIP Peering and ENUM services are now ServiceReadyTM certified for VoIP peering with NexTone's IntelliConnect® System. Headquartered in London, XConnect is a leading player in VoIP peering, registry, and federation services, with over 400 service-provider clients. ServiceReady certification validates that XConnect's services are interoperable end-to-end with NexTone's IntelliConnect System. The two companies will work closely in the areas of service definition, support training, sales collateral, and release management. This partnership also sets the stage for NexTone and XConnect to enable different types of application peering solutions in the future. Service providers and carriers deploying NexTone products and XConnect federation services will be able to originate, terminate, and share VoIP calls or multimedia sessions for IP communications-enabled mobile, fixed, and voice-over-broadband (VoBB) operators, including NGN and IMS operators.

"We certified NexTone as the first XConnect Ready partner in 2005, but we wanted to update and advance the level of our relationship in light of our expanding federation service portfolio and rapid growth in our customer base, including an increasing number of PTTS and Tier-One clients," said Eli Katz, founder and CEO of XConnect. "Achieving reciprocal certification under the NexTone ServiceReady program enhances our ability to enable joint customers to lower their interconnection opex and deliver multimedia IP communications services." XConnect's clients using the NexTone IntelliConnect platform can now peer with the XConnect multi-lateral peering network seamlessly and securely; originating, terminating, and sharing VoIP calls and multimedia sessions. XConnect can also optimize the interconnection process for NexTone customers who wish to join XConnect peering federations.

"Certifying XConnect as ServiceReady benefits not only XConnect's customers but also NexTone's customers," said John Longo, vice president of marketing for NexTone. "There are many service providers in Europe, Asia, and the Americas currently using NexTone solutions that could take advantage of XConnect's Registry and VoIP peering services." XConnect's peering services include these options:

  • DirectRoute Inbound and Outbound - for wholesale providers seeking to use ENUM and peering to reduce termination costs
  • Global Alliance, a federation for VoBB carriers exchanging mediarich calls on a managed basis
  • XConnect Private Federations - for strategically aligned peering groups based on customized technical, security, and commercial policies

The NexTone IntelliConnect System provides dynamic policy enforcementcapabilities using NexTone's unique Dynamic Policy ManagementTM (DPM) technology, which enables service partners to automatically manage changes in service quality, capacity, and availability across peering partners. The company's advanced session routing policies enable service providers to route traffic among multiple peering partners using a blend of least cost, best quality, and most profitable routing. Security policies, with Call Admission Control enforcement, and topology hiding protect the integrity of all partner networks and prevent DoS attacks and service theft.
